President & CEO
As President & CEO of Luna Vineyards, Inc., noted tech entrepreneur and wine aficionado Andre Crisp is hands-on in every phase of the winery operation. From hand-crafting profiles and tasting notes for each varietal in Luna's broad portfolio to developing his own label of wines starting with aCRISP Chardonnay, Andre successfully pairs his business acumen with his deep roots in the wine industry.
As a college undergraduate, Andre's managerial talents drew him to Silicon Valley's blossoming technology industry. Over an 11 year period, Andre led several start-up software and online firms in an executive business development role.
But Andre soon recognized that his fondness for his earliest memories of his family's vineyard was more than nostalgia. In fact, his growing passion for the wine industry drew him back from Silicon Valley to Northern California's other renowned industry center - Napa Valley. Here he took the reins of a venerable wine operation directing their sales and distribution into 35 new markets, including Asia.
Andre's proven track record in both the tech sector and wine industry soon brought him to the attention of the owners of the award-winning Luna Vineyards when they launched an expansion of their executive team. They prophetically recognized that Andre's achievements in breaking into markets that historically had little or no Napa Valley wine sales could play a vital role in the continued growth of the Luna Vineyards portfolio of brands.
Years of trade experience have honed Crisp's leadership skills and insider's knowledge of the business. His acumen with technology enables him to implement innovative techniques that result in improved overall sales and communications with Luna's growing base of distributors, vendors, sales and administration staff, and customers.
Winemaker Shawna Miller's motto is "never stop exploring new experiences and trying new things".
Shawna graduated from Virginia Tech with a forestry degree, and worked for several management agencies and university research facilities across the U.S, but enology courses greatly intrigued her. Achieving another level of education, she received a UC Extension Winemaking Certificate from Davis, California. She exchanged trees for vines and groundwater samples for barrel samples.
Shawna joined Luna Vineyards after working for several high profile wineries throughout the Napa Valley, New Zealand, and Australia such as Beaulieu Vineyards, Cape Mentelle, and Rombauer Vineyards. During this time, she learned from many accomplished winemakers including Tom Peterson, Philippe Melka, Julian Fayard, Rob Lloyd, and Rob Mann. From these world renowned brands came a woman who isn't afraid of some dirt under her nails or the long, harvest days in the cellar.
Her deep domain knowledge is best expressed through Shawna's own words:
My history prior to winemaking was in the natural sciences studying the cyclical patterns of ecosystems. Wine is dependent on the ever-fluctuating cycles of nature and from these cycles emerge the potential for an awesome product that can age for decades and makes people happy. This concept greatly appeals to me. Winemaking was a natural professional progression because it is not always glamorous, but my agricultural background allows me to relish the long, dirty harvest days in the cellar! Harvest is my favorite time of the year. We are so intertwined with the weather and nature, anything can happen at any time - so I'm always kept on my toes.
Food and wine has always played an important role in my connection with family and friends. I love that great cuisine with fantastic wines create a sense of community as well as transport us to other regions of the world for the evening. They are phenomena that I enjoy being an integral part of in my day-to-day life.
As Shawna creates wines for Luna Vineyards in the true Italian spirit – wines that are made to accompany good meals and great company – she lives her motto of "always trying new things" and for the love of the grape, that special mix of science and nature that is winemaking.
Vice President of Sales
Larry Engstrom is a senior sales leader with extensive experience in the wine industry. Remaining based in Chicago and as an integral part of the Luna Sales Team, Larry's passion for wine started when he first visited the Napa Valley wineries with his family at age six. While there, he watched his parents wine taste and couldn't wait until he was old enough to participate himself.
Today, as Luna's Vice President of Sales, he is a Level 1 Court of Masters Sommelier, augmenting his comprehensive knowledge of wines and the wine industry. Larry drives the success in achieving Luna's top line sales and marketing objectives while overseeing the efforts of regional managers, management of our wholesale partnerships, and promoting both On and Off-Premise promotional calendar execution, new placements and opportunity assessment.
His longstanding interest in wine became his career when he joined the Biaggi's Ristorante chain as a wine buyer. To accompany Biaggi's Italian-themed menu, Larry revised and developed several reserve wine lists, hosted wine dinners and helped create the core list of wines for the Midwestern chain's 20+ restaurants. From there he joined Chicago Wine Merchants, a distributor of fine wines in Chicago.
Larry comes to Luna Vineyards directly from his most recent wine industry position with California-based C.G. Di Arie Vineyards and Winery, a Sacramento area winery he grew from seven states to 28 states with a 1500% increase in sales. Drawing from these experiences, Larry has increased sales and Luna brand recognition throughout the nation.

Originally from Spain and born to a family of restaurateurs, his passion for food and wine began at an early age. His love of wine propelled his travels through Europe and South America and was the fundamental driving force in his wine-making education. In association with the some of the world’s most revered producers of wine in the Bordeaux region and closed-gated wineries of the Saint-Émilion region, his passion of terroir and an obsession with the factors that make the wines unique in every wine region of the world developed and flourished, leading him to the Napa Valley in 2007.
