2013 Blanc de Noirs
2013 Blanc de Noirs

Tasting Notes

The 2013 Luna Blanc de Noirs is made from 100% Carneros fruit. This region is known for its fertile soils and cool temperatures as it continually receives bay breezes throughout the growing season. This wine is predominantly Pinot noir, a varietal suited for this cooler appellation. The 2013 vintage was an abundant one, producing high quality grapes from an ideally moderate growing season.

Grapes were picked early in the season to retain natural acidity and freshness. The must from the grapes was then fermented for 2 weeks at cold temperatures to retain maximum natural aromatics.

After primary fermentation, the wine is bottled and completes secondary fermentation in the bottle which creates the bubbles. It is then given a dosage, a sweet liquor designed to round out desired flavors and mouthfeel. After ageing for 3 years in the bottle, the wine is finally ready for your enjoyment.

Tasting Notes

Some say, "Cab is King" in Napa Valley but that's because they haven't tried our Estate Pinot Grigio. Luna was the first winery to plant the Italian varietal Pinot Grigio along the Silverado Trail and we are certainly proud of our history and our signature wine.

Our vineyard is located in the southern end of Napa Valley known for providing excellent growing conditions for white wines. Its proximity to the San Francisco Bay provides morning fog and cooling afternoon breezes, both beneficial to retention of Pinot Grigio's delicate fruit and acidity.

2015 Estate Dijon Chardonnay
2015 Estate Dijon Chardonnay

Tasting Notes

This Chardonnay comes from our Estate Vineyard along the Napa River. Grapes at this vineyard benefit from sandy well drained soil. They were protected by extended early morning fog and able to ripen slowly, thereby developing complex flavors. The Dijon 95 Clone originates from the heart of Burgundy. The nose is filled with toasted almonds, caramel, and baked apple which continue on to the palate to create a balanced, yet visceral crème brûlée finish. This wine is a full bodied expression of Chardonnay's varietal character and will pair well with salmon and cream based cheeses.

Tasting Notes

Our estate vineyard is located in the southern end of Napa Valley known for providing excellent growing conditions for white wines. Its proximity to the San Francisco Bay provides morning fog, creating ideal growing conditions to make a fully botrytized late harvest wine. These grapes are left on the vine until 30 Brix. At this time, naturally occurring botrytis sets in the grape clusters, also known as Noble Rot in classic Sauternes production. The botrytis produces luscious honey notes and mouthfeel which perfectly complements the grapefruit and delicate floral aromas of Pinot Grigio.

2017 Minuet Sangiovese Rosé
2017 Minuet Sangiovese Rosé

Tasting Notes

With its playful mix of florals, pink berries, and tantalizing acidity, Luna’s 2017 Minuet Sangiovese Rosé is nothing shy of summertime in a glass!

Luna’s Rosé comes exclusively from one of our best Sangiovese vineyards located on Atlas Peak. The high altitude of the vineyard provides cool evenings allowing our grapes to ripen slowly and delicately, achieving excellent balance and bright flavors.

The 2017 vintage is one we will not soon forget. The otherwise manageable growing season was bookmarked with devastating wildfires. Picked on October 6, just two days before the fires broke out on Atlas Peak, our Sangiovese grapes were spared from the widespread destruction. This wine serves as a reminder to always be present, to live in the moment, and to cherish time with loved ones. We hope you enjoy our Carpe Diem in a bottle!

Tasting Notes

Sourced from vineyards perched on the dramatic cliffs of Santa Rita Hills, Luna’s inaugural Pinot Noir is an expression of the best of the coastal, limestone soils that make up this captivating region.

The location of this sub-AVA lends gorgeous California sunshine for optimal ripeness and berry flavors while the ocean breeze cools the vineyard at night to retain natural acidity for freshness. These factors make this location and wine style unique. The Sta. Rita Hills AVA is recognized as the pinnacle of Southern California style and wine innovation.

Winemaker Shawna Miller imagines drinking this wine with dear friends along the California coast where this Pinot Noir came to be.

2015 Sangiovese Classico
2015 Sangiovese Classico

Tasting Notes

Our 2015 Sangiovese Classico comes from a variety of prized vineyards including the Game Farm Vineyard on the Silverado Trail below Rector Dam. In these shallow, rocky soils the stressed vines produce superior quality Sangiovese. Additionally, we source Sangiovese from cooler regions throughout Napa Valley. The 2015 vintage experienced ideal growing conditions which produced perfectly balanced and condensed fruit. This wine is perfectly approachable at a young age, however it will keep improving for the next five to seven years.

Tasting Notes

Only the best barrels from this vintage made it into our 2015 Sangiovese Riserva. Our 2015 Sangiovese Riserva comes from the Game Farm Vineyard on the Silverado Trail below Rector Dam. This vineyard has continuously produced the extraordinary grapes selected for our Sangiovese. It was selected for its Brunello clone and shallow, rocky soil. In these soils, the stressed vines produce the superior quality Sangiovese that we pick. The 2015 vintage experienced uniquely low yields which resulted in condensed fruit flavors and bold tannins that allow for great aging potential.

2015 Canto Super Tuscan
2015 Canto Super Tuscan

Tasting Notes

Our signature red wine blend, Canto is the culmination of an inspired vision, skillful winemaking and an intuitive search for the finest grapes.

Traditionally, Canto has been a “Super Tuscan” blend at Luna Vineyards. In 2015, we combined reserve selection Sangiovese from the Game Farm Vineyard in Oakville with Merlot from Howell Mountain, and Cabernet Sauvignon from Atlas Peak.

The 2015 Canto has a dark, inky hue complemented by velvety, cocoa infused tannins. The tannin structure will allow this wine to age gracefully to 2025 and beyond.

2014 Merlot Reserve

Tasting Notes

The 2014 Merlot Reserve is our first release of a single varietal Napa Valley Merlot for our Luna Black Label Collection. This wine is a blend of grapes from Carneros, Calistoga, and Pope Valley. All three regions are incredibly unique growing areas and impart unique qualities to this blend. The northern regions are much warmer and have rockier soils that produce dense, bold fruit flavors while the southern Carneros region is cooler and lends more elegant and savory notes.

Overall the 2014 vintage was a refined, elegant vintage making classic wines that can be nicely consumed in the next three years, but are strong enough to age for 15 years.

2014 Howell Mountain Merlot

Tasting Notes

From a site situated at 2,200 feet in elevation, our Merlot vineyards on Howell Mountain enjoy the best views of the valley. The vineyard sits on a steep grade, requiring the stressed vines to dig deep into earth. The result is remarkably concentrated fruit with tremendous structure.

Our first vintage, this 2014 Howell Mountain Merlot is a powerful testament to what is possible for one of the great, but often underrated, grapes of the wine world. Cabernet lovers will be floored with the intensity and boldness of this 100% varietal wine. While Merlot is often an afterthought in Napa Valley, this bottle is certainly intentional.

2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
2015 Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

Our 2015 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of grapes
from vineyards in Atlas Peak and Oakville. The 2015 vintage was the last of the drought years and one of the warmest years on record. Warm temperatures and low rainfall produced extremely low yields resulting in concentrated wines with distinct tannins. This wine has elegance and finesse, and we expect it to drink will through 2019.

2014 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
2014 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

The Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard sits at an elevation of 1,800 feet on a remote part of Howell Mountain looking east toward the Sierras. Planted in 1990, the vineyard struggles to produce two tons of grapes per acre, but yields Cabernet Sauvignon of extraordinary intensity and structure. This vineyard is dry farmed specifically for low yields to produce incredible tannins. As a bonus, these grapes are certified farmed organic.

The harvest was near perfect in 2014. The grapes in the 2014 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon were picked in September. The wine was then fermented at warm temperatures for four weeks. It underwent 22 months of barrel ageing before being bottled in July 2016.

The 2014 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is acclaimed for its three-dimensional tannins which will continue to soften for years to come.
